WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY REMOTE CONTROL??

TO FIND OUT IF YOUR REMOTE CONTROL FOR YOUR

TV OR VCR OR ANY INFRARED CONTROLLED

DEVICE IS WORKING

All remote controls for entertainment units like your TV, VCR and DVD player emit a signal from an Infrared Diode. Since it is infrared you can't see it to determine if it is working. The remote sends out a light just like a flashlight does and if you were able to see infrared and pushed the button in a dark room you would see that the device floods the area in front of it with light as a flashlight does. I have found a way to look at the infrared signal to see if it is working.

It is very easy to do if you own a Video Camera. All you need to do is to turn on your camcorder and point it at the infrared remote. Then, point the remote into the camera lens, push any button on the remote and observe the end of the remote with the red lens in it. If it will working you will see a flashing light. And, with some of the brighter remotes, if you are in a darkened room you will be able to see the infrared light shining on a wall!!! If you don't see a bright light then the batteries may be dead or the remote may be ready for the garbage can.
