HOW DOES AN AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP GET A GOOD REPUTATION AND KEEP IT? HOW CAN A PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMER TELL IF A SHOP WILL BE ABLE TO SOLVE THEIR PROBLEM TO THEIR SATISFACTION? THIS SECTION WILL TELL YOU HOW BY SHOWCASING A HIGH QUALITY REPAIR SHOP AND BY SHOWING YOU THE KIND OF PROBLEMS THEY SOLVE ON A DAY-TO-DAY BASIS

I've been around the autorepair business in one way or another most of my life. I am always impressed when I come across someone who cares about his reputation and his customer's satisfaction especially when a shop is willing to take on problems that have stumped many others who have tried to solve them. I have been chatting with Terry about that topic. Terry owns and operates Bruckner Auto Repair Clinic in Dallas Texas.

Terry asked me how, with all the negative press they get, can a repair shop maintain their reputation, especially if they tackle the jobs that no one else has been able to solve. After all, the diagnosis of automobile problems has become more of a science than ever before in history and the equipment required to do a thorough analysis of a problem is out of reach of most shops. As a result there are a lot of shops out there that ignore the diagnosis phase of the problem solving process and just start throwing parts at a problem in hopes of getting lucky, either by some past experience or by just dumb luck.

The result is a population of car owners which is afraid to take their car to a shop knowing full well that they may have to take a mortgage out on their house to fix the family buggy and then come away from the situation driving a car with all new parts in it and still exhibiting the same symptoms that it did in the first place! Many of these car owners have written to me to try to understand what might be wrong with their car for that very reason and I have helped many readers to understand just what they can expect when they take their car to a shop. They have a fear of being taken!

Terry and I have discussed this at length. We have come to the conclusion that a good shop that tackles the impossible problems has one primary consideration - the satisfaction of his customer. A customer bringing in a vehicle for a problem which no one else has been able to solve already has a bad taste in his mouth and is anticipating being treated as in the past with no satisfaction and no solution to his problem.

That's where shops like the South Bruckner Auto Clinic come in. Terry has decided a long time ago that if he was going to go into the auto repair business he would invest heavily in diagnostic equipment. As a result he has an excellent record of solving problems that no one else has been able to solve and a reputation of customer satisfaction.

When you go into a shop like Terry's you can expect to pay for the quality service that accompanies excellent diagnostic equipment and technicians that know how to interpret the information coming from that equipment. It is for that reason that I have decided to showcase Terry's Clinic. Terry has agreed to send me some of the tougher diagnostic problems he has encountered so that someone else facing similar problems can learn from Terry's experience. I already have a section on my website where my readers, not necessarily professional mechanics, can share their stories of trick problems that have yielded to creative solutions and now I have a professional shop who will do the same for you, my readers. I will post Terry's Tales on a regular basis. This is an excellent example for my readers to gain some insight as to how a good shop with good equipment and knowledgable technicians
